The world is full of amazing photographers, videographers and drone pilots, this can be seen throughout Instagram and various other social media platforms. Today we got the pleasure of asking Matthew Didi Getgas a few questions about him and how he came to do what he does today.

How did you first get into photography and drones?

Photography came into my life several years ago taking photos of skateboarding. But I ended up having more fun taking photos of my kids and living in the country I started to shoot landscapes which became an obsession and a connection I could only find through toxic substances and alcoholism. When my father in law passed (didi) that’s when I started to show my stuff because I realized that will be me one day and what do I have to loose. Hence the name didi. Photography is my therapy and has opened up a lot of doors I never thought possible. Drones are just another tool to take photos. They aren’t really something I take to seriously but occasionally help me shoot video or get landscapes not possible with a DSLR.

Has photography helped you through a hard time?

Haha yes I mentioned above. The best therapy is a camera and my dream is to mentor others that have had issues whether it be alcoholism, self esteem issues or any other mental health issues.

What is one thing photography has taught you over the years?

Patience!

What would you say to people who are thinking about or are too scared to show off their work?

Picture yourself on your death bed and see how that feels. Face your fears they are not real its all in your head. The only way you will ever grow is by facing fears. And don’t compare yourself there is always someone that’s better than you but there is no one else out there that sees the world in the way you see it so show it to us!

Who inspires you?

Oat he is humble and kind. He takes photos that don’t follow anyone elses rules and I’m proud to call him a friend.
